Compensation payments for victims of the contaminated blood scandal will not be subject to inheritance tax, the Chancellor confirmed in the Budget on Wednesday. Speaking in the House of Commons, Rachel Reeves confirmed the plans to end what campaigners and MPs had called a "perverse" situation.
During a Budget speech which also saw the Chancellor scrap the two-child benefit cap which limited the amount families on Universal Credit could claim, she promised to exempt infected blood compensation payments from inheritance tax.
