It's a Sunday afternoon film to see Fiddler on the Roof . The 1971 musical is a classic, and for a reason. The story of Tevye, his family and the wider community in Anatevka has been told for decades on the stage.

First a stage show in 1964, it adapted the short stories of Sholem Aleichem and crafted a show about the clash of tradition and modernity, and the differences between one community and another. This revival is currently on a tour of the UK, and yesterday, it arrived at the Sunderland Empire.
