The Ville-Marie borough council blamed the previous Projet Montréal administration for not adequately consulting business owners on Atateken St. about a plan to build a bike lane on the street.
A group of business owners gathered at borough council meeting Tuesday night to demand the cancellation of a project to build a bicycle lane on Atateken St. for a period of three years, while work takes place on Berri St. near Place Émilie-Gamelin.
Even though it is six blocks further east, Saint-Jacques district councillor Claude Pinard said Atateken was chosen because it is one of the only streets in the area that connects to both Montreal’s Old Port and La Fontaine Park.
