The safe was part of Julien’s Auctions’ recently completed “Played, Worn & Torn” event that featured items from Lee, Metallica’s Kirk Hammett, and U2’s Adam Clayton, among other musicians.

Lee himself had some fun with the auction item , signing the black safe with the words, “This is the unsafe that ruined my life! Tommy Lee.” However, that extra detail didn’t help the bidding fetch its $4,000-$6,000 estimate, as the winning bidder got the piece of rock history for the aforementioned reasonable price of $2,560 (not including the small fortune it will cost to have it shipped home).
