WILLIMANTIC, Conn. (WFSB) - Eastern Connecticut State University opened its doors to those who need a hearty meal and may not have plans on Thanksgiving.
It’s year 19 of this Thanksgiving tradition and year two for Eastern’s President Karim Ismaili, who helped serve about 500 plates.
“Today means a lot. It means to feel good about life,” said Rafael Leseribano of Willimantic.
Michele Doucette of Willimantic has attended Eastern’s annual Day of Giving before, but this is one of her first times on the dining side of the counter.
“I worked over at Windham Tech for years and would help serve the meal, so now it’s my turn for the reward,” Doucette said.
The cups were full and the plates were loaded with food. When the meal was through, dessert was ready.
