GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A 23-year-old Grand Rapids man held for attacking an Ottawa County homeowner and killing the family dog is facing a separate assault charge in Kent County.
Jason Varnado is formally charged with home invasion, killing/torturing an animal and felonious assault that happened last week.
Through court documents obtained by 13 ON YOUR SIDE, Varnado is also accused of an attack against a family member earlier this month.
Varnado is charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and aggravated domestic violence in connection with a Nov. 2 incident.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Grand Rapids Police responded to a hospital to take a domestic violence assault report that evening.
The victim told detectives her live-in grandson, Jason Varnado, stabbed her.
