The Blue Jays were in need of another frontline starting pitcher, so they went out and added the best one available.

After coming within inches or winning the World Series, the Jays reportedly signed ace Dylan Cease to a seven-year contract worth $210 million (U.S.) on Wednesday evening.

The New York Post’s Jon Heyman was the first to report the deal which has yet to be officially announced.

Cease is coming off an inconsistent 2025 season that saw him go 8-12 with a 4.55 ERA across 168 innings for the San Diego. His underlying metrics suggest Cease pitched better than the numbers indicate and across seven seasons he has a 3.88 ERA.

The soon-to-be 30-year-old’s best season came in 2022 when he went 14-8 with a 2.20 ERA for the White Sox while leading all pitchers with 6.4 wins above rep
