NEDERLAND, Texas — A Beauxart Gardens mother is putting Southeast Texas first for the holidays by creating a "Blessing Box," known as the Porchside Pantry to help families who may be silently struggling to put food on the table and to erase the stigma associated with asking for help.

Amelia Winters said she started the Porchside Pantry because she understands how difficult the holidays can be on a tight budget, especially after experiencing hardship as a single mother. "Whatever I can do to be able to help it, I want to do it," Winters said.

A mother of three, Winters took matters into her own hands after noticing how many people in the area were going hungry. "There were so many people that were hungry and needed something. So I was like, why don't we make like a little box on the porch
