Meraz Catering and Events, a family-owned business that has become the official lunch provider for St. Joseph High School, handed out free Thanksgiving meals to residents Wednesday afternoon as a gesture of thanks to the community that has supported them.
Owners Amy and Lupe Meraz set up in the St. Joseph High School parking lot along Bradley Road, where they planned to distribute meals to individuals and families in need. The effort, supported by volunteer students earning service hours, and contributions from AgWest Farm Credit, reflects a personal mission for the Meraz family, said Lupe Meraz.
Meraz said the team promoted the free Thanksgiving meal giveaway through social media and word of mouth.
