SUMTER, S.C. — Major road improvements are coming to neighborhoods across the City of Sumter as officials launch the next phase of a large-scale resurfacing initiative.
City leaders say the project will include both city- and state-owned streets within the city limits and is meant to reinforce their commitment to safe, smooth and reliable roadways for residents, businesses and visitors.
According to the city’s website, more than 20 roads are included in the initiative. The streets were selected based on condition analysis — a process Senior Planning Director Kyle Kelly says is thorough and essential before work can begin.
