NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio — Ruth Miller has been deemed competent to stand trial for the murder of her 4-year-old son in Tuscarawas County, court officials confirmed Wednesday.
Judge Michael Ernest denied Miller's motion to have her sanity evaluation excluded, a member of Ernest's staff told 3News. The trial has been set for March 4, 2026, at which time a jury will begin hearing the case against Miller for aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, endangering children, and domestic violence.
Miller, a 40-year-old from Millersburg, back in September following the deaths of her husband Marcus and son Vincen at Atwood Lake during the weekend of Aug. 23-24. She is currently being held without bail in the Tuscarawas County Jail after being released from a secured mental health facility.
