GARFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio — As the Thanksgiving travel rush is in full swing, many drivers are watching the forecast closely this year after a lake-effect snow warning was issued for several Northeast Ohio counties from Thursday morning through Friday evening.
"We know lake-effect snow and we know what that could do," said Sgt. Jeremy Kindler with the Ohio State Highway Patrol. "It could be snow bands that can come down hard and heavy at times."
Ahead of the high winds, the Ohio Turnpike issued a travel ban for all vehicles taller than 7 1/2 feet through Thursday night. The ban is for the entire toll road.
"The travel ban on the Ohio Turnpike will be continually evaluated throughout the duration of the weather event," the Turnpike said in a press release.
