BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —

The Jimmie Hale Mission is heading into the Thanksgiving holiday with gratitude, love, and support.

A dinner was held Wednesday evening for staff and residents. Volunteers came together to make sure people were able to enjoy a hot meal. It's common to see whole families step up and help serve.

Because of volunteers, so many people will get food on Thanksgiving, especially those who are home-bound.

"All total here at the Jimmie Hale Mission, including what we’re going to do with Meals on Wheels, [at] our other two facilities; Jessie’s Place downtown for women and children, and Royal Pines up in Hayden, where we house 40 men," said James Poe, director of the Shepura Men's Center.
