OAKLAND, Maine (WABI) - You sure could feel the holiday spirit in the air at Messalonskee High School in Oakland Wednesday.
People in the community gathered early Wednesday morning to prepare for the 36th annual Thanksgiving Day Meal.
Girl Scouts from the area baked nearly 300 pies with funding from the community.
You could not only smell the turkey and stuffing being made, but you could feel the importance the day for organizers and volunteers.
“I get to meet a lot of new people and experience all the people that goes here and I know that a lot of people are in different situations in life and all that and they may not have the meals or the ability to gee the meals themselves. It means a lot to me to give them that,” said Quinn Charles, a volunteer.
