A horrific fire in Hong Kong has taken hold of high-rise apartment buildings through the night, leaving at least 44 people dead and a further 279 reported missing. Firefighters continue to pull residents from the blazing buildings into the morning as the city is left devastated by its deadliest fire in years.
The fire took hold of properties in a housing complex in Tai Po district, a suburb in the New Territories on Wednesday (November 26) afternoon. By Thursday morning local time, the death toll reached 44 as the fire was yet to be put out.
