WACO, Texas — The City of Waco is congratulating its Fire and Facilities departments on earning a national recognition for fire house design.
The City announced that Waco Fire Station #15 has been selected as a Gold Winner for this year's Fire Station Design Award from Firehouse Magazine.
67 fire stations across the country were submitted for the award, according to the City, with Fire Station #15, Waco's newest station, earning the top honor as the #1 Satellite Facility out of all the submissions.
The City of Waco said judges praised Station #15's "clean, efficient design," which features three drive-through bays, adjacent sleeping quarters for faster response times, advanced airlock systems and a dedicated decontamination area the city says "supports the needs of modern firefighting."
