A class-action lawsuit was filed against Thomas Jefferson University this week after the company announced it was laying off 1% of its workforce back in October.
The Philadelphia-based health care system had announced that the layoffs were because of "financial headwinds" and would impact 600 workers.

The lawsuit accuses Jefferson of violating the rights of its employees during the layoffs.
"Jefferson blindsided hundreds of workers with mass layoffs, then used that economic shock to pressure them into forfeiting rights that the WARN Act makes non-waivable. We're grateful our client had the courage to stand up to Jefferson, and we welcome others to do the same," an attorney involved
