GREELEY, Colo. (KKTV) - A man is dead after he was shot by a Greeley police officer during a traffic stop outside North Colorado Medical Center, according to the 19th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT).
The CIRT said a Greeley officer initiated a traffic stop in the area of 16th and 21st Streets at around 3:50 p.m. According to law enforcement, the driver got out the car but the passenger, who police said had an active felony warrant, did not.
Authorities said the officer approached the vehicle to let the man know he had a warrant for his arrest and told him to get out of the car. The man reportedly did not comply and reached toward a bag on his lap, and after the officer continued to give commands that the man didn’t listen to, the officer fired his gun and shot the man.
