CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - Thanksgiving travelers in Northeast Ohio face potentially dangerous conditions as lake effect snow is predicted to hit during peak travel times.
Traffic remained light on I-77 South Wednesday evening as many people made their way to holiday destinations. Experts say 90 percent of people traveling for Thanksgiving are driving.
Those heading east, especially along I-90, could encounter major issues Thursday. A lake effect snow warning is in effect for several counties, accompanied by heavy winds.
Early departure recommended
Maleeka Woodland of Cleveland has already warned family members driving to Ohio to celebrate Thanksgiving to take their time. Her niece from Tennessee arrived safely about 30 minutes before the report.
