As we move towards the New Year, many of us will be making plans for 2026. And if your annual leave resets on January 1, you may be thinking ahead as to how to make the best use of this.

How you use your accrued holidays is entirely your choice. Maybe you want to spend time with family, see your friends, or simply enjoy some alone time, but whatever you decide, a simple trick could turn your standard 28 days of holiday into a huge 58 days off work in some lovely long stretches.

It all comes down to bank holidays and some strategic planning. Similar hacks have been available in previous years but, sadly for some, it only applies to those who don't work weekend
