On a dark Wednesday evening, a parade of cars lit up the Courcelle Building’s U-shaped drop-off for a Rutland Youth Theatre rehearsal. Inside, the cast and crew of “Matilda Jr.” had already tucked their cell phones in plastic pockets hanging on a door, signifying rehearsal was in full swing.

Auditions were held in September, rehearsals began in October, and last week the cast was off-book, almost ready to bring the story to life for the Rutland community.
