The lights remain off, bar stools remain empty and doors remain shut at VFW Post 1247, about a month and a half after leaders at one of Grand Junction’s two Veterans of Foreign Wars establishments said they hoped a temporary closure would be short-lived.
Located at 1404 Ute Ave., Post 1247 was suspended by the VFW Department of Colorado in October, when the group assigned an administrative committee to investigate still-unspecified issues there.
Asked for any updates on the situation this week, VFW District 11 Commander and Investigating Committee Chairman Len LaDue said he had little to share, and didn’t expect to reveal any new information until after a meeting to gather “more input” from post members on Dec. 7.
