As the teams lined up for the pre-match national anthems, the opening bars of God Save the King rang out across the stadium to whistles and jeers from the crowd.

After a couple of seconds of silence, the travelling Irish fans wasted no time in belting out an acapalla version of Amhrán na bhFiann.

The girls in green went down 3-1 in the end and find themselves third in their group after the first round of matches. They face a tough road ahead to qualification with Poland and Bulgaria still to come.
