A man has been charged in connection with an alleged assault of a 12 year-old boy in Timperley, Trafford, Greater Manchester Police said on Thursday.

Adithya Ramamoorthy, described by police as a 'British Asian-Indian male', was due to appear before magistrates in Manchester on Thursday.

He's been charged with section 18 assault and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, GMP added in a statement.

The charge relates to a reported incident on Stockport Road in Timperley last Friday evening.
