For the first time in over two decades, Georgia and Georgia Tech enter "Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate" both ranked in the top 25.
But the annual rivalry between the two Peach State foes won't take place in either of the Bulldogs or Yellow Jackets' stadiums.
It will instead take place at a neutral site five minutes from Georgia Tech's campus — one that's familiar to Georgia and its fan base due to their history in the SEC championship game.
For the first time since 1913, the Yellow Jackets will not host "Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate" at Bobby Dodd Stadium, as the top-25 matchup will instead take place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Here's why the 2025 edition of "Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate" is being played at a neutral site:

Friday's edition of "Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate" between Georgia and Georgia Tech will be held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the home of the NFL's Atlanta Falcons.
Why is Georgia Tech vs Georgia at Mercedes-Benz Stadium?
The 2025 meeting between the Bulldogs and the Yellow Jackets is considered part of the Invesco QQQ Atlanta Gridiron Classic, a newly named college football showcase game that features one of college football's richest rivalries.
The title name of the game, which is a home game for the Yellow Jackets, was announced in June.
"Atlanta and Mercedes-Benz Stadium have long been recognized as a premier destination for college football, and the Invesco QQQ Atlanta Gridiron Classic is the latest opportunity for us to continue to build on our legacy of hosting world-class events," Doug Roberts — said AMB Sports and Entertainment vice president of stadium events and premium sales — said in a statement.
Georgia Tech announced in 2024 that it would host the 2025 edition of "Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate" at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The agreement between Georgia Tech and AMB Sports and Entertainment gave the Yellow Jackets a $10 million guarantee to play the game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, in addition to one game annually at the NFL stadium through the 2026 season.
"We know that some of you may be apprehensive that Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate will be played off-campus for the first time since Bobby Dodd Stadium opened in 1913. Please know that we understand that concern and know that this was not a decision that was made lightly," former Georgia Tech athletic director J Batt wrote in a letter to fans explaining the decision.
