LINCOLN, Neb. —
Stronger together: that seems to be the motive behind the move to bring the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Nebraska Medical Center under one roof.
"If you were to take the research and grants of UNL and the research and grants of UNMC and put them together instead of being ranked at about 100 or 120, we'd be ranked at about 50 or 55," Dr. Jeffrey Gold, the president of the University of Nebraska, said.
That's no longer a hypothetical, ever since the NU Board of Regents gave Gold the green light last week .
"The only thing to be determined is the date of transition," Gold said. "And I can just tell you the very important part about that is that once this actually is finalized, all of the federal financial aid ... will go through a single number. A
