Steinbach residents are celebrating the long-awaited opening of the Highway 12 and Loewen Boulevard intersection after nearly two years of construction.

The intersection officially opened on Monday, November 24.

Businesses along Highway 12 say the project brought challenges, and many are relieved that customers can once again reach them without navigating a detour.

Buddy Webster from Loeppky Auto Sales says the construction took a toll, but they worked hard to stay positive.

“We've had very gracious customers who are no stranger to challenges in this town and city. So, they were always able to make it here one way or another. But once we seen that it was opened up, everybody had a big sigh of relief. We were very excited.”
