A thug who struck a dog with a golf club in an 'unprovoked act of violence' at Lickey Hills Country Park is being hunted by police.

The animal suffered swelling to its face and dislodged teeth after the shocking attack at the Worcestershire beauty spot earlier this month.

West Mercia Police described the incident as a "distressing and unprovoked act of violence against a defenceless animal in a public space".

No arrests have been made and police inquiries are ongoing.

In a statement, police said: "We are appealing for information following a dog being hit by a man using a golf club in Lickey.
