CLEVELAND — Thousands of homes in Northeast Ohio are without power Thursday morning as holiday travelers deal with a blast of wintry weather , according to FirstEnergy.
The utility provider's outage map showed more than 2,417 of its Northeast Ohio customers were left in the dark as of just after 7:15 a.m., the majority of which were in Ashtabula County. In the hour since, outage figures have hovered around 1,500 for the region.
3News issued a Impact Alert for Thanksgiving and Friday for lake effect snow that will impact holiday travel in areas of the snowbelt through this time period. The National Weather Service, which issued a Lake Effect Snow Warning, says roads will become slick and snow covered and gusty winds will result in blowing and drifting of snow.
