An 8-year-old boy has been stabbed at a primary school with the campus plunged into lockdown.

An 11-year-old boy is being questioned over the incident, which reportedly happened at Brentwood Park Primary School in Melbourne, Australia , on Thursday morning before the school bell rang. Both Brentwood and Kambrya College, a nearby secondary school also on Bemersyde Drive, were placed into lockdown at about 9am.

Victoria Police said the victim and a staff member, who also suffered minor injuries, were treated by paramedics on school grounds and did not require hospital treatment.
