(WWTI) – Thanksgiving is officially upon us, which means that you and your family members – including your pets – might be patiently awaiting a feast.
We all know dogs and cats love begging for human food, but we don't always have the ability to say no to our four-legged friends. Pet owners should be aware, however, that many common Thanksgiving foods might be unsafe, or even lethal, for some animals.
As a general rule, skin, bones, sauces, dressing, animal fat and desserts shouldn't be given to dogs and cats. (The artificial sweetener xylitol, for example, can be deadly.) And even if the food is deemed safe for four-legged friends, the American Veterinary Medical Association recommends giving only small portions.
