Thanksgiving is a time when loved ones gather, and that can include pets.

While many Thanksgiving foods are delicious to humans, they can be toxic to dogs. Some of our favorites can make dogs sick, and even the smallest of bites can cause fatal illness.

The American Kennel Club has put together a list of what you should and should not feed dogs.

Foods that are safe for dogs:

All foods listed as safe must be plain with no seasoning and should not be cooked with or contain any of the unsafe foods.

Foods that are toxic to dogs:

If you suspect your pet may have ingested an unsafe food, the AKC recommends taking the animal to a veterinarian as soon as possible. If the vet is closed, contact an emergency veterinary hospital or call the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center
