Two men have been jailed for a combined total of 48 years for unleashing a violent attack with an axe near Canterbury after forcing their victims' car to stop. The sickening assault by Esmatullah Paktiawa and Dawood Khan happened on a live carriageway on the A2 near the Wincheap junction.

Kent Police found a man in his 20s, and another in his 30s, with serious head injuries including one who had been attacked with an axe. A third victim escaped unharmed and helped emergency crews in giving first aid.

The three victims in a white Seat were targeted by Paktiawa and Khan who were travelling in a silver Mercedes. Kent Police said further information pointed to the parties knowing each other.
