Food Network star Guy Fieri is recovering after he was rushed into emergency surgery to repair a torn muscle he suffered in a fall while filming his new show.
The chef and restaurateur told Fox News Digital that he is now in a wheelchair and using crutches for the foreseeable future as he mends a torn quad muscle following the fall on a set of stairs on Monday, Nov. 25.
"[I] slipped down a set of steps, and one foot went forward, and the other foot got caught on the threshold," he told the news outlet. "So, you know, it extended me out. I looked like I was probably doing the splits, but when my right leg compressed into itself, the giveaway point, and the doctor said he's never seen — you know, in 20 years — he hasn't seen a tear in the biggest, thickest part of your quad in half. Yeah, it sucked."
Doctors rushed him into surgery to stop the muscle from receding.
“You normally tear that muscle at your tendon or the tendon tears off the bone, but this was right in the center of the whole quad muscle, and it exploded,” he said.
Fieri was in the middle of filming his new show “Flavor Town Food Fight” when he fell. He said he and his production team have had to get creative and "pivot" so they can continue to produce the series.
Fieri said he is recovering at his California ranch.
