Four men have been arrested following an armed robbery at a corner shop. Armed police were called to reports of an incident on Church Street, New Mills, that involved two men with a knife and firearm.

Officers attended the scene at around 11.56am on Wednesday (November 26). Footage shared on social media also shows multiple armed officers outside a home in the Derbyshire town near Stockport .

After crucial information was passed by members of the public, the force is understood to have identified an address the suspects may have entered.

Due to reports the men were armed, firearms officers attended the address and eventually arrested four men inside on suspicion of robbery. They remain in police custody.

Residents will see an increased police presence in the area tonight
