A Long Island woman was killed after she was hit by a pickup truck on Monday, Nov. 24, at 10:26 a.m., Nassau County Homicide Squad detectives announced on Thursday, Nov. 27.

Detectives said the crash happened as a 49-year-old man was driving a 2020 Chevy Silverado east on East Chester Street. He made a right turn onto Pacific Boulevard and struck a pedestrian who was crossing, according to the release.

The victim, identified as 77-year-old Mary Traynor of Long Beach, suffered serious body trauma. Senior Care Ambulance transported her to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

The driver stayed at the scene following the crash. Detectives said the investigation remains ongoing.
