Mercedes driver George Russell has argued that, as a "multibillion-dollar sport", Formula 1 should not be relying on volunteer stewards.
The stewarding of F1 races has become a talking point once again, bringing arguments for permanent and paid stewards to the surface. Carlos Sainz claimed that stewarding should be of a similar standard to the analysis from TV pundits and former F1 drivers Karun Chandhok , Anthony Davidson and Jolyon Palmer , which he watches after a grand prix.
"Yeah, well, I respect those three that he mentioned from an analysis perspective, and I think they do get things absolutely spot on," Russell told the media ahead of the Qatar Grand Prix when asked about Sainz's comments.
