He can’t remember if the bouquet he left on her doorstep was roses.
It was the morning after their first date.
They dated for about five years before Johnstown native Tony Sacchet told LaDonna Greenawalt he thought it was time for them to marry. She cried on their wedding day.
But 30 years later, Mr. Sacchet says he hopes he left roses that day, the universal symbol of affection.
Mr. Sacchet, 70, mentions the bouquet as he pulls out his cellphone and flips to a smiling image of his 75-year-old wife Ms. Greenawalt, who underwent liver transplant surgery at UPMC Montefiore Hospital in Oakland Nov. 7. The donor was Ms. Greenawalt’s 42-year-old son Eric, who works as a utility lineman.
