A man is charged after allegedly gunning down an unarmed teen during a large fight in October.
Deonte Taylor, 32, of Chicago and Gary, is charged with murder, unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon and a gun enhancement. He was arrested Wednesday morning.
Police responded Oct. 19 to the 1200 block of E. 36th Place in Gary.
The victim, Darviar Anthony, 18, of Gary, was shot multiple times and pronounced dead at Methodist. Police found multiple shell casings at the crime scene.
Witnesses said about a dozen “juveniles” were fighting there in a group brawl, Det. Jason Szemes wrote.
