A father of three children who was once called a hero for shielding them from the subzero elements after getting lost during a hike has been hit with child abuse charges.
On Oct. 11, Micah Smith, along with his eight-year-old daughter and two sons, aged four and two, was caught up in a storm while hiking in Cottonwood Canyon, Utah, according to the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s Office .
The four were reported missing and rescued one day later. Two of the children were taken to hospital in critical condition, while the third child was stable, and the father was listed in fair condition.
