LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

After the Kentucky Supreme Court overturned a Louisville man's murder conviction, he's back behind bars.

Kevon Lawless was found guilty in 2022 of murdering 3-year-old Trinity Randolph and her father Brandon Waddles. The murder happened in 2020.

He was sentenced to two life sentences without parole on November 2023, but his conviction was overturned in 2025.

Lawless filed an appeal to his conviction, with his attorneys arguing the trial court was wrong in denying motions to postpone his trial, adding that jurors should not have heard about the arrest of Evan Ross, who was a key witness in the trial.
