Deep Water Gallery’s sold-out fundraising kick off raised an estimated more than $5,000 at a gathering in Colpoy’s Bay Nov. 21, gallery co-founder Joe Vanderzand said.
The Wiarton & District Chamber of Commerce started the gallery in 2019 as an economic development project to encourage visitors to come to Wiarton.

It’s run by volunteers but has reached the stage where it needs more volunteers and Vanderzand would like to pay people who work there, he said. There are marketing and treasurer positions he’d like to fill too.
The “Cocktails and Canvas” event at the Colpoy’s Bay Women’s Institute included an auction. Friends of the Gallery sponsorship initiative was also launched. “I deem it a success,” Vanderzand said.
