MACON, Ga. — While most families settle in for Thanksgiving dinner, members of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church hit the road with a different mission: making sure no one in their community goes hungry.
For more than 40 years, the Macon-based church has delivered holiday meals to elderly and disabled residents who rely on Meals on Wheels. The national program doesn't deliver on holidays, so the congregation steps in to fill the gap.
"It feels great to give to those that can't get out to their family members, so it's an honor just to be able to deliver them some food so they can have a home-cooked meal," Natasha Woodford said.
The solution is simple. Church members cook an extra plate or two at home, then bring them to the church on Williams Road. Volunteers pack the meals and delive
