MACON, Ga. — The Thanksgiving spirit filled the air Thursday morning as people in need loaded up on turkey and cold-weather gear at the Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia's annual drive. Many thanks and lots of giving were shared during the event, held in partnership with Loaves and Fishes Ministry.

Volunteers handed out 250 meals along with 300 coats, hygiene kits, blankets, socks, shoes and gloves to those facing hardship.

Betsy Collier, a participant in the Rescue Mission's Life Recovery Program, helped serve and shared her gratitude.

"They're all so thankful and we're just thankful to be able to serve," Collier said. "We don't realize every day all the blessings that we have and it's just wonderful to be able to do something for someone else who may be less fortunate."
