It's hard to tell what Green Bay Packers fans are most thankful for on this Thanksgiving Day – a win over the Detroit Lions, or just Micah Parsons' presence in general.
See, the Packers did get a much-needed victory in Detroit on Thursday, defeating the Lions 31-24, tying for first place in the NFC North, and putting themselves in a prime position to make a run down the stretch for a playoff bid. But in the victory, Micah Parsons might have been the real star of the show as he marked his place in the NFL record books.
Parsons, in his first year in Green Bay after being traded by Dallas before the start of the season, racked up eight tackles and 2.5 sacks in the win over the Lions – and with those sacks, Parsons became the first player in NFL history to achieve 12-or-more sacks in each of his first five NFL seasons. Entering the game, he was tied with Hall of Famer Reggie White as the only players to reach 10 sacks in each of their first five seasons.
Parsons is now third in the NFL for total sacks this season with 12.5, trailing Brian Burns of the Giants (13) and Myles Garrett of the Browns (18). Garrett is just five sacks away from the single-season NFL sack record.
