LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - The Salvation Army in Laredo served turkey dishes and discussed their Christmas assistance programs Nov. 27 while volunteers handed out fresh vegetables to families.

Salvation Army Majors Gabriel and Candelaria Elias said it’s always important to be grateful.

“We have a wonderful celebration, it’s a beautiful tradition for many, even hundreds of years, that we are celebrating in this country, giving thanks to God for the pilgrims,” said the majors.

The majors said the event raises awareness for Laredoans to help keep the Salvation Army alive. This month the organization celebrated over 100 years of service in Laredo along with a grand reopening.
