ROCKFORD, Ill. — Beth Howard, the executive director of the Friends of the Coronado, is stepping down after more than 25 years of dedication to the Coronado Theatre in downtown Rockford. She reflects on her time preserving and expanding this historic venue.
"It's just been the honor of a lifetime to be part of the group that stewards this building," Howard said. "You reflect in these times. You celebrate these times. But for sure you want to show gratitude."
Howard and the Friends of the Coronado, alongside the Land of Lincoln Theatre Organ Society, have worked tirelessly to prevent the theatre from being demolished or repurposed.
"It says a lot about this community. It says that we not only dream big, we act big," Howard said.
