JACKSONPORT, Wis. (WBAY) - The spirit of giving was alive and well in Jacksonport on Thursday.
The annual “Neighbors Helping Neighbors” Thanksgiving Day Parade marched through the town on Thanksgiving morning.
It’s not just an event for families to enjoy floats and festivities; the parade also raises money for one local family every year.
This year, attendees showed their support for Sevastopol third grader Lucia Ramirez, who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
One family we spoke with says they travel over 250 miles for the event every year.
“I love the whole fundraising aspect of this parade. We load up our pockets with singles. We already loaded up down there and tipped in. Love when the buckets come by and we can take care of a needy family in Door County,” says Mark
