SULPHUR, La. (KPLC) - For 37 years, the Sulphur Lions Club has opened its doors on Thanksgiving Day, making sure no one spends the holiday alone.
William Arceneaux, membership chairman of the Lions Club, says that for almost two decades, this is the way he has spent his Thanksgiving.
“For over the last 15 years, this has been my Thanksgiving. I haven’t sat down for a Thanksgiving meal with actual family in over 15 years because we’ve been up here providing Thanksgiving meals for the community,” Arceneaux said.
This Thanksgiving, the smell of turkey and dressing filled the rec center as volunteers prepared hundreds of meals, a tradition they’ve maintained every holiday for nearly four decades.
Arceneaux shares that they typically spend $4,000-$4,500 each year to put on the event, and so
