LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - McNeese erased a 13-7 deficit against rival Lamar with back-to-back touchdowns just 13 seconds apart in the final 15 minutes to win the season finale .
With a little over a minute left on the clock and a two-point edge over the Cardinals, the Cowboys needed just one first down to secure victory.
“Coming off the sideline we [were] like, ‘Hey we have to get this first down, we got to put this game away,’” McNeese running back Coleby Hamm said.
The final run by Hamm not only secured the Cowboys the Battle of the Border trophy, but those 6 yards put the running back over 1,000 career rushing yards.
